QTN WINTER 10s REHEARSALS - SENIOR PERFORMING KAPA HAKA ROOPU

Kia ora whānau,

Queenstown Winter 10s Kapa Haka competition is in three weeks time on Saturday, 17 June 2017.

Karen spoke to the whole group last Thursday and asked them if they wanted to enter their group into the event.  She talked about:

  • how demanding it would be on them as we would be holding a rehearsal each Friday outside of school hours(half hour increase on the Thursday rehearsals)
  • the time each individual would need to invest at home learning the words and actions

After a discussion amongst themselves, all but four wanted to give it a go. See the scheduled rehearsal times below:

We may require another rehearsal at some stage but it will be in school time.

We understand if you do not want your child to partake in the event after having seen the rehearsal schedule.  Let me know by replying to this email immediately.

IF you are keen to support your children, you will see above than we start this Friday, 2 June 2017 from 4:30pm in the P.Arts room.

You’ll see above that the GIRLS rehearsal time is 4:30 - 6:30 and the BOYS are from 5:30 - 7:00pm.  We need to get our girls up to scratch with the poi. If anyone has a poi at home, they will need to bring it with them to all the rehearsals.

Our girls need to be practicing poi at every spare moment of the day they have.  It is not an easy task to attain and practice is the only way to achieve this goal.

Thank you for your continued support.

Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou

RE: MICHAEL HILL INTERNATIONAL VIOLIN COMPETITION - MIHI WHAKATAU

Kia ora whānau,

The mihi whakatau will take place this Thursday, 1 June at 5:30pm.  It will held at Sir Michael Hill’s residence.

We will be picked up by bus at 4:45pm from the school and returned by 6:15pm where the children will get change out of their kakahu(costumes) and be released to a parent.  Below is the schedule for the day.

Unfortunately we have been limited to 25 students for this gig as requested by Michael Hill’s coordinator of this mihi whakatau.  It was extremely difficult to do as we would have liked everyone to be part of the occasion.
